For years we’ve heard the old saying, “it’s not who you know, it’s what you know or vice versa, it’s not what you know, it’s who you know.” Well, to really hit a point home today, I’m going to tell you that WHO is more important these days than WHAT. In order to reach your ultimate goals, you’re going to have to craft deeper relationships with people. I’m not talking about the new term, “networking,” because if you’re like me, you’re all networked out. The time has passed for cold calls, blast emails and passing out business cards to strangers. This new age call for a new approach and that approach is already within your sphere of influence (SOI).
WHO do you know? WHO knows you already and have in some shape or form, contributed to your goals or ventures? That’s the relationship (WHO) you should be fostering so that the best form of advertising WORD OF MOUTH can soon attribute to your success. So how do you cultivate the WHO you already know?
1. make friends FIRST
2. help your friends SECOND
3. be sincere and watch your goals, dreams, aspirations come to light
One of the most essential elements I’ve learned in my eleven years as an entrepreneur is that once the paradigm shifted from me, myself, my business, my goals and my success to helping others, assisting friends and finding solutions to others problems—I reaped the benefit. That lesson is true now more than ever. My WHO and your WHO is WHAT it’s all about. So take a moment today or tonight and think long and hard about WHO you know that knows you and have supported you. Again, these are the individuals that will propel you forward. Sketch out a plan and work hard to implement it around your WHO SOI. Remember, those WHO fail to plan, plan to fail.
Blessings to you
